Today on your bFM Breakfast: pinch and a punch, Mike's missing the first of the month; Rob's on the trail of the Ariel Phenomenon; Dr. Walls incites a bit of Stalinist thinking [Amelia tells me this line is criminally misleading. Sorry. - PD]; Grant Robertson's back with some scorecards for Peters and Sir Key; and don't joke around, Craig, you can't _buy_ a house in Auckland anymore. (...Can you?)

Based around the real-life farce that occurred shortly after the death of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin, Armando Iannucci's (Time Trumpet, The Thick of It, Veep) Death of Stalin bills itself as a 'comedy of terrors'. With an ensemble cast of comedy vets (Michael Palin, Steve Buscemi) and theatre wonders (Simon Russell Beale), Iannucci's film deflates rather dark passages of world history to show the sad, hilarious truths of how men act when confronted with a sudden power vacuum. Any good, Maria?

Craig's been doing some late night emailing... to the bank. Will they help him buy a house? (Watch this space.) Feat. such pertinent home-ownership based questions as: How much loan is too much loan? Why do some apartments seem cheaper than they are in long-term reality? What percentage of your income should you dedicate to repayments? Should we all just go camping instead?

Documentary director/producer Tina Brown rolls in to talk about her feature, United Skates, a wonderfully engaging framing of US rollerskating rinks and their still-present concurrent threads of community, music, and racial segregation. Mary-Margaret Slack then recommends, while talking as-little-as-she-can [SPOILERS] about, another documentary feature, Tim Wardle's Three Identical Strangers. With limited sessions left as the festival draws to a close, don't sleep on these two. Eight-wheels-out-of-eight / three-strangers-out-of-three.

Today on your bFM Breakfast: a lightning round of 'What Am I?'; we introduce the listeners to Civic Thrills with Auckland Councillor Richard Hills; everyone gets their skates on (Rollerfunk Huntly, anyone?); Mary-Margaret's doing her best to avoid spoilers; and Marama's concerned about our rivers. Why aren't you?

Dr. Marama's taking a look at New Zealand's freshwater landscapes - rivers, lakes, wetlands - and is finding their intrinsic values are not only not being utilised to the best of their abilities by communities, but they're under ever-increasing threat. As our freshwater spaces are impacted by species loss, pollution, introduced predators... how do we create a future in which we regenerate and enhance such spaces?

His Worship's away, but we've found the best man to step into the breach. Auckland Councillor Richard Hills is from 'round Mike's way, so we'll excuse the North Shore camaraderie in order to ask: what's happening out there in Auckland City, Councillor?

Jenna's brought in the brand new novel from solemn Twitter fixture Melissa Broder (@sosadtoday), The Pisces. Concerning anxiety, self-destructive behaviour and mermen - have we a Shape of Water narrative for the online fanfic crowd?

What does our makeup say to others? How do women view adornment choices differently to men? ...Why are we only getting male callers on this topic? Sigh.

Today on your bFM Breakfast: early morning Rev, Chains, and W.A.S.P.; Penelope ponders the psychology of makeup; nigh on forty-eight male callers; Jenna's got the latest from Twitter's sovereign of sadness; and Ange is worried about your testosterone levels, 'kay?
